Unfortunately, Bangkok’s famous gay sauna did not survive the pandemic and will not reopen. Babylon, which was one of the city’s best-known gay saunas and one of its longest-running gay venues, had extensive facilities including a large pool, steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi, dark room, maze, and private cabins.

Visitors could top up their tans, swim, work out, enjoy a meal at the surprisingly good restaurant, sip a beer in the chill-out areas, or simply unwind in the hands of a male masseur. Lockers were provided, but it was recommended to bring cash and leave valuables at the hotel or put them in one of the security boxes near the reception.

Monogamous gay couples were welcome to enjoy Babylon’s relaxed 100% environment. We recommended bringing your own flip-flops (and gym gear if you wanted to work out).

Sunday afternoons were the busiest times to visit. During the SongKran Festival in April, Babylon filled up very quickly, and admission was on a ‘one in one out’ basis.

The nearest station is Lumphini MTR.
